I think people do underestimate our ability to solve problems when it comes to global environmental problems. Had we continued to belch toxins as we did during the Industrial Revolution the planet would be totally f'd right now. But, we made things better and cleaner. Even, China, who scares the shit out of environmentalists, is slowly coming around. I think people do underestimate our ability to solve problems when it comes to global environmental problems. Had we continued to belch toxins as we did during the Industrial Revolution the planet would be totally f’d right now. But, we made things better and cleaner.

Even, China, who scares the shit out of environmentalists, is slowly coming around. They have way too many smart people to not come up with some pretty brilliant planet-saving technologies—wait, you’ll see.

There was something solemn and strange about the way the forklift placed the cars in, and then kept them in there with its poker while they were crushed to next-to-nothing. It made me think about those poor soda cans getting crushed, and how now I feel even more empowered to NOT recycle them. After all, what kind of a person would I be to enjoy a crisp, refreshing can of Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi and then send it off to its death like that? We've had a good ride, and i see no reason to spoil the fun by going all puritanical at the last, useless minute. UNLESS: we give serious thought to colonizing Mars.
